B.E.C. Transition
Greetings -
Important BEC News:
Since June 2020, the Business Education Connection has provided amazing work-based learning opportunities for students at Animas High School, Big Picture High School, and Durango High School. The BEC has been funded by Animas High School and Durango 9-R’s Homegrown Talent Initiative (HTI) grant. The HTI grant was utilized to bring career readiness and exploration to students and expand our talent pipeline for our community. Due to the HTI grant ending in June 2022, it is with sadness that we share that the BEC will no longer be providing work-based learning opportunities for students or professionals after this ’22–’23 school year.
Good News!
Each school will continue to provide work-based learning opportunities and internships for its students. The good news is that you are still needed! From businesses providing tours of their facilities, professionals coming into classes to speak about their careers or having informal career chats, professionals providing demonstrations for students, and businesses and professionals that host internships, the work will not stop! We are making such a positive impact on our students’ career journey by providing quality opportunities. Please know that each school appreciates your interest and enthusiasm in continuing to support students!
BEC Transition:
In the coming months, the BEC will be transitioning to bring work-based learning directly within each high school. In addition, the BEC will continue to fulfill work-based learning experiences for all schools for the rest of the semester, as well as support professionals and businesses in transitioning to the new contacts at each school.
Thank you all for participating in work-based learning opportunities these past few years with the BEC! We know that you might not see the impact of your support of students, but please know that each and every one of you has made an impact on students. Thank you all for your understanding during this transition.
